Writing your website BIO

One of the hardest parts of setting up a new website can be writing your Bio or About Page. Many clients find it hard to write about themselves, or are unable to put into words what they want to say about their business.

Here are a few tips and links to get you started!

Aim for 1-2 paragraphs

Read Bios from other websites that you like and use theirs for a starting point

Try writing in the third person

Try a list of hobbies, hashtags if you are going for quirky or creative

Write about what you have done in the past and how that gives you the skills today

Aim for 2-3 paragraphs

How many years in business

What does your business do and how

Why do you love what you do

What to you bring to the table above others in your field

Write a paragraph about each key team member (or ask them to write about themselves)

Decide if a photo will bring the right feel to your website (usually it does!)

Invest in some great headshots - very useful to have on hand for all media enquiries

Make sure the headshots suit the nature of your business (serious, creative, quirky, leading edge)

If you are shy try headshots with sunnies, hats, profile, head-down, hair partially covering your face, also try converting photo to black and white.
